KINGCO 4A CONFERENCE

WILDCATS WIN GAME ONE 2-0 OVER NEWPORT

Game Summary: On to round 2! Monday 5:30pm at Issaquah vs Woodinville. Skyline will be playing Issaquah at 7:30pm following our match. The winner of our match will play the loser of the KingCo Championship match for a trip to state. The back line did a great job tonight...very fundamentally sound all 80 minutes. Solid distribution and runs into the attacking third! Very proud of CJ, Buck, Mia, Willy, and Bella. Mission accomplished. The midfield play picked up the intensity in the last 40 and settled nicely. Karli and Fish had two great finishes tonight! Time to prep.

Goals: Karli White, Miranda Fisher
Assist: Karlie Hurley
Shut Out: Nellie Joselyn
Players of the Match: Our D with a Shout Out to KDub and Fish!

MOUNT SI WILDCATS VS. NEWPORT KNIGHTS
MOUNT SI HIGH SCHOOL, SNOQUALMIE, KICKOFF 7:00 P.M.

Mount Si meets Newport for the second time this season; in their earlier matchup, at the beginning of this month, the Wildcats blanked the Knights 1-0, beginning a string of six wins in seven games to close out the regular season schedule. Mount Si fell to Skyline Monday to put the Wildcats into the loser-out playoff bracket, and come in as the third seed in the playoffs. Newport advances in as the sixth seed.

From soccer and tennis…
Mount Si places eight on Kingco 4A girls’ soccer all-conference teams: Mount Si’s stellar girls’ soccer season has earned eight of their top players recognition on the All-Kingco postseason awards list.

Leading that list is Arkansas-bound senior Karli White. White, with 16 goals and 10 assists on the season, has been nominated for recognition as the Kingco 4A’s most valuable player, in addition to a first-team nomination. Fellow senior Claire Johnson has also been nominated to the league first-team, while junior goalkeeper Nellie Joselyn, along with senior Karlie Hurley, earned recognition with second-team nominations. Four players have been nominated for honorable mentions – Camryn Buck, Michaela “KK” Wallace, Mackenzie Popp and Malia Barrett. Awards will be officially announced next week during Kingco playoff games at Issaquah High School, so we’ll let you know if any or all of these girls get officially recognized.

The "Full 80″ prep girls soccer soccer blog - Week 8
Posted by Matt Massey - Seattle Times

In this edition of “The Full 80,” a look at Mount Si’s attempt to grab one of two state berths out of the rugged KingCo 4A in first season with the league. Mount Si hopes to emerge from shadows of Issaquah, Skyline. Living in the shadows of perennial KingCo 4A powers Issaquah and Skyline, the Mount Si High School girls soccer team is quietly having a banner season. The Wildcats (11-3-1), playing in KingCo 4A for the first season since moving up from KingCo3A/2A, hope they don’t get lost in the shuffle when two state berths are handed out to KingCo 4Aschools. The tough road started back in early September and continued Monday night in a playoff for the No. 2 spot into the KingCo 4A tournament. Mount Si and Skyline tied for second in the KingCo 4A regular season with 19 points and 6-1-1 marks and face off Monday night at 5:30 p.m. at Juanita High School for the No. 2 seed. Skyline won the match 2-1 on Monday night, rallying from an early 1-0 deficit. Amanda Johnston scored the game-winning goal in the 49th minute.

“KingCo 4A is brutal and every single game in the league is one where you’ve got to be ready,” Mount Si coach Darren Brown said. “There’s no weak teams. There’s good athletes and there are good, solid players on every team. CONTINUE

From the pitch this Tuesday…
Mount Si High School’s girls soccer team saw its road to state take a detour last night, as they fell to Skyline in a tiebreaker playoff game for the right to compete in the Kingco 4A title game next week.

Amanda Johnston and Kelli Sullivan each had a goal and an assist as the Spartans handed the Wildcats the 2-1 defeat at Juanita High School in Kirkland. Mount Si now plays Newport at home Thursday for the right to move on in the league playoffs. That matchup starts at 7:00 p.m. and is a loser-out contest for the Wildcats.
